Leading the way at Shennington!

The first race of ’23 to blow away the cobwebs and try out the new engine ahead of the season opener!

The weekend was extremely cold with mostly dry conditions, but the extreme temperatures meant the Saturday was run entirely on wets as we struggled to get heat into the tyres. During practice we were some way off the pace and going into Sunday, knew it was time for action!

Sunday – i closed the pace gap to just a few tenths as we battled through the day, my first on slicks with such an uplift in power and 3 seconds a lap quicker than what i’d previously been used to! Nonetheless – after settling into a decent heat on Sunday morning, some consistent finishes throughout the day left me in 4th place starting the final. At the start i got squeezed into Cafe Corner and lost a few places, but held on right throughout the race narrowly missing out on 4th place, to bring it home in 5th!

Overall a decent finish, with a LOT of learning taken away from the weekend as we head toward the Nationals in a month or two’s time!
